Public Transit to SDSU
The City of San Diego offers public transportation via MTS. To use public transit in San Diego, you must have a PRONTO pass. To get a PRONTO pass in San Diego, download the PRONTO San Diego app (available on Apple and Google Play) or buy a physical card for $2 at any Trolley station ticket machine, the MTS Transit Store, or participating retail locations. One-way fares for the trolley and most bus routes begin at $2.50 and day passes through PRONTO start at $6–find a full fare chart through the MTS website.
SDSU has its own transit center (the SDSU Transit Center) located along the Green Line Trolley as well as many major and local bus routes.
The Green Line connects SDSU directly to several major San Diego destinations without needing a transfer:
-
West (toward Downtown): Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Old Town Transit Center*, and the Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego.
-
East (toward El Cajon): La Mesa and ends at the El Cajon** Transit Center or Santee.
* Transfer here to connect to the Blue Line trolley (north to UCSD, south to San Ysidro border crossing)
** Transfer here to connect to the Orange Line trolley (connects El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Encanto, and west toward downtown San Diego)
To plan your Trolley or bus trip from your location, utilize the MTS Trip Planner website.
